Photographs now available in Paoli

I'm happy to announce that starting today, I will have my images available at Lovely Days Gallery in Paoli. If you live in southern Dane or northern Rock and green counties, Paoli is a fantastic little burg to visit! It's become home to several fine galleries along with local cheese and food shops. Lovely Days is a terrific gallery, located in an old mill, with a wide variety of art available. To learn more about the gallery, click here.

My work will still be available at High Street Gallery (my main gallery) in Mineral Point. If you want a wonderful taste of Christmas, visit Mineral Point on December 3 - it's the final Gallery Night of the year in town. Mineral Point will be beautifully decorated and the streets will be lit by candelight during the evening.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by my various art shows this year. The "road-show" season wrapped up last weekend with the Winter Art Festival in Madison. Planning for 2012 art shows is well underway and the tentative calendar will be on my website soon.

Pewit's Nest - Baraboo Range

I made a quick morning run to the Baraboo Range today to visit one of my favorite spots - Pewit's Nest State Nature Area. I've shot it many times, but it's still fun. Here's some images (please click on them to make them larger).

Autumn Images from the Northwoods

I just returned from a weekend shooting fall colors in Taylor, Price, and Sawyer counties. The state experienced a significant wind storm last week, which played a bit of havoc with the fall colors. Many trees, particularly along riverways, were almost stripped of fall color. Other areas, however, were in great form! Here's some images - as always, click on the image to see a larger version.

Alaska - Day Eleven

This is my last post from Alaska - catching the red-eye back to Wisconsin tomorrow. I hope you've enjoyed the images over the last eleven days from the Last Frontier. I've shot close to 3,000 images, so I know what I'll be doing for the rest of the year!

I spent some time today on the waters of Kachemak Bay, which is home to Gull Island, one of the largest rookeries in the world. At any given time, almost 15,000 birds can be found nearby. Hope you enjoy these photos.

Alaska Day Ten - More Low Tides

Another day of very low tides here on the Kenai Peninsula. In fact, the tides in this region are the second most extreme in the world....and they move fast.

The low tides offer some wonderful opportunities to see what's going on beneath the surface....and gives those who live above the surface a good chance to eat. Here's some images from today.

Alaska Day Eight - Chugach and Kenai Fjords

A long day of driving, but it was made much easier by spectacular scenery throught the Chugach National Forest, Kenai Fjords National Park and the Seward area. It's late (even here in Alaska), so I'll share only a few shots (as always, click on the image to see a larger version).

Alaska Day Six - Katmai and Bears

An amazing day spent at Katmai National Park. Almost 1,300 frames shot. I'll be editing for quite a while, however wanted to share a few (as always, please click on an image for a larger view).

I'll let the images speak for themselves, save this quote from Andy Russell:

"There is great strength and pride combined with a strong mixture of inquisitive curiosity in the make-up of the Grizzly character. The Grizzly can be brave and downright brash. He can be secretive and very retiring. He can be extremely cunning and powerfully aggressive. Whatever he does, his actions match his surroundings and the circumstances of the moment.

His is a dignity and power matched by no other in the North American wilderness. To share a mountain with him for a while is a privilege and an adventure like no other."

Special thanks to Emerald Air Service, Pilot Craig, and Guide Dave for a day I'll never forget.
